About Red Rili

Bold red meets crystal-clear contrast. Our Red Rili Shrimp feature red markings across the head and tail with a translucent midsection, creating a striking pattern that stands out among aquarium plants and natural décor.

These peaceful, active grazers spend their day exploring moss, leaves, and hardscape, picking at biofilm, soft algae, and leftover food. Each shrimp’s unique markings add a little individuality to your colony.

Provide a stable, established aquarium with plenty of grazing surfaces and hiding places. Supplement their natural grazing with quality shrimp food, and choose peaceful tank mates that won’t view them as a snack.

Please note: Red intensity, pattern, and the size of the clear areas naturally vary between individual shrimp. Lighting, age, and shipping stress can affect their appearance.

Keep their world steady

Start with a fully cycled tank.
Provide moss, cover, and gentle filtration.
Avoid sudden changes in water conditions.

A few good questions.

For a first Neocaridina colony, a group of 10–20 shrimp in an established 10-gallon aquarium is a practical starting point. The right number depends on your tank's filtration, available food, and other inhabitants. Start small and leave room for your colony to grow.
Neocaridina varieties, including Cherry Red and Blue Dream, are a great introduction to shrimp keeping. The key is a fully cycled aquarium and stable water conditions—sudden changes can stress shrimp. Some other varieties need more specific care, so check their requirements before choosing.
Neocaridina spend much of their day grazing on algae and biofilm—the natural coating that develops on aquarium surfaces. Supplement this with quality shrimp food, occasional algae wafers, and small portions of blanched vegetables such as zucchini. A varied diet helps support growth and healthy molting.
Not always. A small colony in a mature tank may only need supplemental food every other day, while a larger colony may need small daily portions. Watch how quickly they eat, adjust accordingly, and remove leftover pellets or vegetables after a few hours to protect water quality.
Neocaridina shrimp typically live around one to two years, though lifespan varies with temperature, water quality, and overall care. A stable aquarium, suitable food, and consistent maintenance give them a strong foundation for a healthy life.
